The waters around the Cayman Islands are world-renowned for their great dive sites, and fortunately, the crystal clear waters and vibrant marine life are also easily accessible for snorkelers. Brac Reef Beach Resort on Cayman Brac is a great place to enjoy spectacular Cayman Island snorkeling.
Grab a snorkel, mask, and fins and discover the unlimited fun and unforgettable adventures under the sea!
There are multiple snorkel sites around Cayman Brac, offering great visibility – usually 100-150 feet with little or no current. The water is always warm; in winter it’s 78° to 80° and in summer it’s 82° to 86°. You won’t be alone while enjoying these warm waters – there are over 500 types of fish and many other types of marine life including turtles, spotted Eagle rays, reef sharks, moray eels, stingrays, Horse-Eye Jacks and barracudas.
Laws in the Cayman Islands protect the 100 different hard and soft corals that flourish in the area, so snorkelers can also enjoy the coral reefs which come close enough to the surface to allow views usually only seen by divers.
For those who would love to see the underwater beauty of the Caribbean Sea but are not interested in the complexities of diving, snorkeling in the Caymans is ideal. From toddlers to great-grandparents, snorkeling is safe for all ages and is a great family activity.
