Best Dive So Far & Acts of Piracy Begin…

Diving Brac Reef was definitely not one of the things Hurricane Paloma ruined...

Our second dive of the day was absolutely awe-inspiring. We went to Jackson's Reef & Wall and we came up all smiling and talking about what we had seen and who spotted what. We started off going down 60ft and checking out the wall til half of our bottom time was up. We hadnt seen anything on the wall, but walls are still quite exciting to me because they continue to remind me of how small I am and the magnificance of all that's around me. So after not seeing anything exciting on our first dive and not seeing anything phenomenal for the first half of the wall dive, I was ready to head back to the boat and was about to hand signal to my dad to see if he was also ready to ascend. As soon as I clear the cliff of the wall and am not swimming on top and rather than on the side of coral, I spot a nurse shark. A huge nurse shark is quietly and calmly nestled in a break in the coral. I am never the first to find anything so I was uber excited that my first big find was a shark.

I rang my jinggly scuba bell and was able to share the shark with everyone. Once the shark saw that we were nothing more than the underwater papparazzi, he got up and swam away. Sharks are absolutely gorgeous creatures. The way they move and the intense look and feel that they have is yet again, awe-inspiring.

As soon as the shark swims away, we hear another divers alert, this one kinda quacks like a duck. After swimming a few feet closer we see it's a sea turtle. The turtles are always lots of fun and you can never see enough of them. This one didn't seem too scared of us but at the same time he didnt want to be bothered by these huge monsters blowing bubbles; so he too ran away from us. Fortunately, we have a newly certified Turtle Herder on the Little Sister. Lol. My dad, with the super fast fins Barb convinced him to get, swam faster than the lil thing, got in front of him and got him to turn around and head back toward the group (turtles for some reason seem to want to swim whichever way they think you won't be).

Im getting sleepy again, so I'll have to tell you about the acts of piracy tomorrow and upload some more pictures... See ya
