Karaoke… An American (& obviously a Caymanian) Pastime…
I'm not quite sure why a microphone, music and words to a song get everyone so excited, but I know that I fall victim to the combination every single time...
Once a week good ol' Karaoke is brought to Brac Reef Resort. I don't know how it goes on any other night, but the Dive Pirates definitely brought the house down. As all of my friends back home will tell you- I am a karaoke regular. Last year, I sang the classic Ike & Tina tune "Proud Mary" and it was great fun. I really wanted to do that one again because I really really get into it (in fact, I was Tina Turner a couple years back for Halloween. spikey blond wig, frilly dress & all the fixin's). But instead of singing the same song, I performed the Journey song "Don't Stop Believing". It was sooooo much fun, but it was definitely not the highlight of the evening.
As four of us sat there, (me, my two roomies and Alex) having what we have named "The Cicero Special", trying our hardest to find a song we wanted to sing, someone threw out Sir-Mix-Alot's "Baby Got Back". To my surprise the DJ had the song. So, the only logical thing to do at that point was to sing the song... So we did. Lol. The four of us goofballs went up there and did more dancing than anything, but we kept the party going and kept everyone entertained for the evening. Mission accomplished...
